Life Will Kick You Until You Are Down, But That's When The Growth Occurs

How do we change our circumstances when lying face down in the gutter?

Can a person recover from despair and overcome their pain and suffering?

Pain is a menacing threat that grows in intensity and never leaves you. There are moments of respite, although it never leaves. Not in the way you want.

That's what sadness is like - despair interwoven with glimpses of elation.

How do we transcend the pain?

Are we meant to overcome or endure it?

Does the person who endures the most in the end prevail?

So many questions, yet answers are few.

Life is a one way conversation with a universe that speaks but doesn't listen. She yells in such a bellowing roar that I drown it out and retreat into the sanctuary of my mind.

Struggle is an oppressive adversary, like a boa constrictor enveloping you, pausing momentarily - and then smothering you again.

Can you relate to this feeling?

I don't want to be defined by my suffering, that's not who I am, nor whom I intend to be.

I recall a time when struggle and pain meant grazing my knee at soccer practice. The wounds eventually healed, and I was left with a faint scare to mark my fall.

Nowadays, pain lasts longer than a grazed knee. It is like being chased in a terrifying dream that never ends, stuck in an endless loop.

We are defined by our struggle and assume the identity of the wounded victim. We have no choice because life thwarts us every time we try to rise.

Garret Kramer writes in The Path of No Resistance: "All of us have experienced struggles that appeared to be the result of a certain situation, only to later ask ourselves: This situation isn't so complicated. What in the world was troubling me?"

But here's what I found to be the antidote to suffering: I am pushed to grow in the moments, days and weeks that follow the despair. For some, it might be years, dare I say decades for growth to be realised.

I wish I could mend your pain like my mother taking care of my grazed knee. But sometimes we must go it alone. For it was Winston Churchill who once said: "If you're going through hell, keep going."

He knew pain and suffering ultimately recedes to give way to inner growth.

Wishing away the pain does nothing to cultivate grit and strength of character. The gentlest souls are those who have endured the greatest hardships and gained a humility for life.

"Let us never look hardship in the face and run. To do so is to tear ourselves from this world and this time, and to relinquish our growth and contributions in life."

"Let us always remember that in addressing our pain and fear, we gain mastery over them," writes Brendon Burchard in The Motivation Manifesto.

We are but a small cog in a wheel forever expanding and contracting.

I'm reminded of a quote by the Buddha who said: "Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional."

So, are you allowing life's pain and struggle to define you or using it to grow and expand? Remember, the universe favours expansion.

Everything taking place in your life right now is leading to the unfolding of your life's narrative.

You can recoil from it or lean into it.

Suffering is the seed life plants in you to reveal your greatest potential, so you may come to know your authentic self.

If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It

A dream is a vision of a compelling future. It provides inspiration and motivation for the dreamer. The more critical the dream is, the easier it is to go through the inevitable setbacks in life. Expect to be knocked down but never give up. You can make your dream happens.

Making dreams happen only proves what kind of individual we are. It means we know what we really want in life. Everyone has a dream but it takes a lot of patience and hard work to realize it.

Putting your dreams into reality is a serious business. This is not the type of dream when you are asleep but the kind of dream when you are aware about it. It is the natural human drive to find meaning by expressing unique talents and sharing those talents with others.Truly successful people are big dreamers who find their dreams and inspire others. They make a difference.

Your knowledge is not enough. No matter how intelligent you are, if you do not couple your dream with action, it's nothing. To accomplish your visions, you must take action. Take small steps at a time. Don't be afraid to dream. If you put hard work towards something, anything is possible. It can be achieved through your determination. Every great success begins with a dream.

A dream is what it takes to make things happen. In order to transform our dreams into reality; we must wake up and chase our dreams. We must not dream of acting when the circumstances are ripe or perfect, instead, we must create those circumstances for ourselves because success will never be served to us on a platter. We need to work hard. It is a gradual, continual process. Success cannot be achieved with just one fell swoop. It requires patience and perseverance.

According to some, the people who actually do something are not dreamers; rather, they are men of action, who fill their lives with positive action and result-oriented performance. However, it is necessary to understand that it all begins with a dream. No matter how unachievable a task might seem, what the human mind conceives it achieves.

Dreams are the stepping-stones upon which our successes are laid. More essential than conceiving a dream is to pursue it even in the face of dire adversity. Mere dreaming has not led anyone anywhere but when you couple it with action, it will lead you to what your heart aspires.

Thus, you can make your dreams come true if you wholeheartedly work to achieve them.

Whatever objective we have needs to be clearly charted out and the means to achieve such a dream should be well-defined.

Go Big, Go Bold

At most we yearn for the finer things in life such as a majestic promotion at work, an exquisite car, an eccentric project but the question is what you are doing towards attaining your desires. We love to dream yet we all shy away from acting towards that dream. It requires courage to go an extra mile.
We are at most contended with taking baby steps. In fact let me put it this way, the word "Risk" on its own has a different meaning to various individuals. For some a risk is more of an opportunity to progress in life whilst for some when they hear that word it instantly triggers the flight or fight mode. We do not want to cross the border line because risks are associated with failure, double loss and simply put instinctive fear.

We are afraid of taking a risk because we know not how much more we are going to lose after having already lost so much in life but here is another question: How will we ever know what is on the other side when we never allowed ourselves to cross that line? We want to stay within a constricted zone which is limited but what fruits has it brought forth so far. Some limitations that we think we have are merely of our own doing. No one will plough the field for you if you do not set out to seek for one to delegate, no one will harvest if not appointed to.
The point l am trying to drive home is, do something, take the initiative towards seeing that dream come to life.

Go big, go bold, give it your best shot and if it fails, it fails.
After all who said you will always succeed at everything you try out. We all need those knockout blows which teach us to toughen up. I mean only then can we know that next time l need to attack from the left angle, because we took the initiative. Do not be near sighted but rather be foresighted. Success comes to those who are bold, who are willing to take up anything no matter the outcome. After all we can only measure success at times by how many times you fall and get up until you never have to fall.

Don't be afraid to jump from the peak of the mountain, it is a huge risk but fortune does favor the bold. Those that are willing to go out there and give it their all regardless of how it turns out. Dream big but most of all be bold enough to take risks that see your dream come to life.

A lot of obstacles may come our way but what we need is Courage, confidence, perseverance and belief in one's own capabilities. See yourself where you want to be and then start the climb. Even if you are bold, never lose your best accomplice which is patience. A good resolve and patience will comfort you when you reach a rough patch but boldness does not give up. It rather replaces fear with courage, facing the fear just as David from the bible faced Goliath knowing that he who was in him was greater than he who stood before him.

Live a life of no regret, knowing that not only did you try but you gave it your all. Your potential is your confidence, believe in yourself and Go big, go bold.

Have a clear picture of where you want to be, a vision, and set out towards seeing that vision come to life. Action taken differs depending on the intended goal to be reached by every individual be it evangelism, public speaking, leadership role, starting your own company you name it. It is very difficult to implement an action that a certain individual has implemented, what works for him might not work for you. It is easier to take a leap of faith when we believe, when we believe in ourselves. For when we believe, if we fall we pick ourselves up, and soldier on because we have faith in ourselves that we can, it might not be now or tomorrow but some day some time something will definitely happen.
